Wow! What a ride!

In case you’ve been wondering…

After house prices went through the roof last year, Gwen and I decided it was the perfect time to sell ours. People on our street were making serious bank off of homes that it was like, wait, what!? They got how much!? And we wanted in on it.

Around April or so, we started doing all those little projects a house needs to get it ready for sale: fixing up little dings and nicks, new paint, cleaning, emptying it out a bit and doing a little staging. Around July we put it up on the market and had an excellent offer in just a couple of days. That meant packing and cleaning out stuff that we decided it wouldn’t be worth moving.

The problem with selling in a hot market, you see, is that everywhere you want to buy is equally hot. So the money we made on our house in Philadelphia was only enough to buy a similar house in Philadelphia. And we wanted to upgrade, not make a lateral move, so we decided to move across country.

Long story short, at the end of August we packed everything into U-Haul’s U-Boxes, loaded what was left into our car, and drove about a thousand miles, where we ended up spending 45 days in hotel while we looked for a new home. We closed on our new house in October, and now we have a driveway, a garage (with an automatic garage-door opener — fancy!), and an actual yard with a very nice tool shed.

After that, we took in our friend Tom, while he also was between homes (he closes on his new house on Feb. 28, fingers crossed), and now it’s 2022.

I’m currently working on the Second Edition of my tabletop RPG (Ryu-Ki System: Sunserra) and a Y/A Urban Fantasy novel set in my “Zedline” universe while I plot out the next Cody Stone / Angusville / Griefborn Cycle novel (the sequel to The Grass Haired Girl). In the next week or so, I also plan on picking up where I left off with my “mythical critter of the day” series I had going on Twitter.

Anyway, Happy 2022, everyone, and thanks for sticking with me!
